An interview between CEO of DR Gaming Technology and co-founder Jurgen De Munch and Managing Director: Africa, Charl Geyser and Bill Healey. DRGT was established in 2005. Jurgen De Munch explains that the company literally started in a garage. They began with a simple idea back then, an idea that quickly became their vision. He guesses that their entire mantra development is that leading idea, to develop and deliver the best technology that puts the player first.
The Idea That Moves the Company
To fully execute the idea, Michel van Dam, CTO and co-founder and Jurgen De Munch realised that they need to provide casino operators with cutting edge technology. A technology that needs to be robust and user-friendly. They also have to ensure that they have the people that will support their products and to be used by players and operators.
Charl Geyser had more years of experience in the casino business. After 13 years he left Aristocrat in 2007. He started to run his own pubs with street market machines. After some time he decided to come back into gaming equipment distribution in 2009.
His involvement with DRGT has a decade, starting from a distribution he took of SiP products. He meet Jurgen and Michiel when they purchased SiP in 2011. At the time they meet, Charl had a secured EGM distribution contract. At DRGT he meet the most powerful, cost effective and user-friendly casino management system. He strongly believes that he found the “goose that lays the golden egg”. DRGT was the perfect company for Charl. Because of it he could launch his newly established Simplicit-e Gaming Solutions.
After a Decade
In 2019, Simplicit-e Gaming Solutions is now DRGT Africa, a joint venture between DRGT and South African Investment holding company Grand Parade Investments Limited. DRGT celebrated a decade of functioning in Switzerland, 2018. They are very proud. Christian Eder and his team in Austria together with Jean-Michel De Busscher and his team in Belgium have done a great job to maintain and grow their presence in Switzerland.
Ever since their installed their first system in grand Casino Bern in 2008 , they were able to expand their footprint to over 10 casinos. What remains to be encouraged is that many of these installations follow referrals and endorsements from one operator to another. It’s impossible to put a price on this sort of marketing, it is considered invaluable and the company treasures it immensely.
Retaining the Edge of the Competition
DR Gaming Technology is the market leader in Belgium. With the company’s roots in the country, they did their best to secure as much local support as possible. Jurgen can proudly say that all 9 Belgian casinos manage their operations by using their system.
Michiel along with R&D Directors of the company along with the Global Products team drive their product development and its associated timelines. Jurgen believes and he said on many occasions that people are becoming more and more demanding of tailored solutions that are easy to use. They also become less and less tolerant of extended service intervals.
With this in mind, the company needs to develop quicker, install quicker and to be able to provide operators with technology that engages quicker and more directly with their players.
